Bookkeeper
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced bookkeeper to join Bennett Verby. We will provide you with in-house training to support you in your new role. You will join a professional and highly respected team where hard work and commitment are rewarded.
Your role and responsibilities:
- Preparation of VAT returns
- Bank Reconciliations
- Maintaining Sales/Purchase ledger
- Taking accounts up to trial balance
- Communicating effectively with HMRC
- Responding professionally and promptly to client queries
- Willingness to travel to clients’ premises
- Willingness to undertake bookkeeping tasks at clients’ premises
Qualifications:
- Ideally AAT qualified
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a bookkeeping role
You will be expected to demonstrate:
- A good working knowledge of Sage 50
- A good knowledge of VAT and the ability to apply VAT rules and regulations
- Competency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
- Knowledge of Xero would be advantageous
In addition:
- Hold a clean UK driving licence and access to a car
- Be able to work well within a team

- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels and with clients
- Work to deadlines
- Attention to detail and excellent time management skills
Working week:
Monday-Thursday 8.30am — 5.15pm
Friday 8.30am — 4.30pm
(38 hours, full time)
Salary:
£18,000 to £24,000, dependent on experience
